Phil Blackburn

Phil is employed at Cobleys as a Solicitor. Throughout his career he has dealt with the most serious matters that come before the Crown Court.
Phil has been with Cobleys for over 5 years and deals with White Collar Prosecutions and Confiscation Proceedings brought by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, The Inland Revenue and Serious Organised Crime Agency. Often these cases will involve several hundred million pounds and include evidence from around the globe.
Phil will listen to your needs and fight hard on your behalf.
Notable cases include:
R v G
Phil defended one of five directors of a company prosecuted by the Inland Revenue in relation to non payment of tax. The case involved the largest amount of companies ever liquidated before the High Court on one single day. The matter was ultimately stayed as an abuse of process.
R v C
Phil defended in confiscation proceedings involving several million pounds. Owing to a mistake on the part of the prosecuting body, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the matter went to appeal in the High Court. Phil successfully prevented HMRC from recovering any of the assets HMRC claimed in the High Court.
